I am sure that we have all heard different story's or backgrounds to the Candy Cane. They might be true or they might not be. There is one History I have always been told and part of it was from some site I read. This might just be because I am Roman Catholic and I have been in Catholic schools my whole life. But today I wanted to share this with you in case you have always wonder what the possible history of the Candy Cane is.
The History I was always told had a religious background. The shape of the candy cane was said to be shaped like a Shepard's cane. But it is also said that it is shaped like a "J" to represent the J in Jesus. Also known as "good Shepard" that watches over everyone and his sheep. The candy cane is also hard like a rock that represents the foundation of the Church. The colors of the candy cane all have different meanings too. Some say that the white parts of the Candy Cane represents Jesus's purity and virgin birth. The bigger and bolder red stripes are say to represent God's love. While the three thin red strippes say to represent the Holy Trinity. But others say that it represents the blood that was spilled during the beating upon Jesus. Now we all know this meaning, that the Candy Cane represents Christmas and the Holiday!
I hope no one thinks that i am telling them to believe this. This is what I was always told and read about. I am sure others might believe different or there could be other history;s and I would love to hear about them. So, feel free to share them with me down in the comments!
16 DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS!!!
